Guy Who Complains A Lot
samualdaugherty

I currently own a 2002 Passat W8 wagon. I absolutely love it. Compared to some of the other cars I’ve owned (BMW E36 M3, Volvo C30, Mazdaspeed3, Jetta 1.8t) I’d say it’s equally as reliable. It’s cost far less to maintain than the BMW, and about the same as the rest of the cars I’ve owned. Parts compatibility with the

Even things like the width of the windshield wiper blades is regulated by US laws. And oftentimes, Europe has requirements that make building a one-car-fits-all model realistic. Is there really some reason why we can’t develop a global standard? It would allow manufacturers to save money, and open up markets to cars

I would use this as an awesome excuse. I only drive about 10-miles-per-day total. If I have some errands to run, that might up to 20-miles. I can regularly get a used ForTwo electric for about $6500 here in Illinois. I’m going to buy one just for my daily. If we go somewhere far away, we’ll take the wife’s car. If we

That’s beautiful. I almost bought one of those when I sold my e36 M3, but opted for a Passat W8 instead when we found out we were having another baby. Just needed something a bit larger than the e30. The Passat is a “you should own it at least once” kind of vehicle, but it’s just a temporary fix for me. In 2021, I can

It’s funny, because when I saw it, I thought it was genius. We have a card that we use to badge into the parking deck at work. I keep it in the glove box, and have to stretch across the car. Obviously not everyone needs it. But it’s nice for those of us who would.

Yeah, it’s a hatchback without a doubt. All of these stupid things are. Also, I love that they swapped in a manual, but I can’t buy one with row-your-own. The only way Toyota was able to make this cool was by turning it into a completely different car.

I did just that! I bought a 2002 Passat W8 wagon, with just 112k miles on it. Picked it up for $3,500. Immediately put another $2,500 just to catch up on routine maintenance that I didn’t see a record of being done, and a few other things for piece of mind. I’ve had zero problems since. It’s not near as fast as I

If we could get everyone on here to donate just $5, he may get to keep his car. Let’s all help spread the word. I gave $50 just now, let’s see if we can get more of you to match it!

There’s a house a few doors down from me that always has a different car on jack stands in the driveway. Rarely a day goes by that this guy isn’t fixing one car or another. And it bothers me ZERO. Why should it bother me? It doesn’t detract from the value of my house at all. It’s not making the neighborhood ugly. He’s

Be sure to review them on Google as well. Google’s rating system gets significantly more traffic than Facebook. They have over 500 positive reviews, but if everyone reading this article left them 1 star, it would really do some damage to their public relations.

I don’t think I’d call it a wagon. I drive a wagon, and they’re not near as roomy. My wife’s Land Rover LR2 has nothing on my B5.5 Passat wagon for room. I have more front leg room, rear leg room, and trunk space. These are hatchbacks, and yes, there’s a difference. This is a Hyundai Elantra hatchback with a lift kit.

What the actual f@*k is that?! How many directions does this guy need to see? I’m assuming there’s one pointing back into the engine bay, for God knows what reason.

Look, just to back the OP up, there are other factors. I work in insurance, so I’m speaking from experience here. Here are a few factors: if your house has a garage, you’re less likely to get hail damage or damage from fallen trees. I live in central Illinois. Most minority neighborhoods near me don’t have a garage.

I bought my e36 M3. Not the fastest M3, but cheaper than the e46, and a blast to drive. I get compliments on it constantly too. It’s a timeless car.

Which is why I own a 1997 M3. Reliable? Yeah! Expensive to maintain? Nope. In fact, parts are about as expensive my old Mazda3. I’ve never looked into the new ones, because my wife hates oil stains in the driveway.

I got a Mazda 3 sedan as a rental car once. The trunk was big enough to hold my kids stroller, but it wouldn’t fit in the opening. That had to be the stupidest design of all time. I upgraded to a fusion. It was nice, but Ford refuses to give us the wagon version, so I refuse to acknowledge how much I actually enjoyed

Another wagon lover! I complain at least once a day that people should start buying wagons. It makes no sense to get a crossover, so that you can drive a car that’s less efficient, just because you want an SUV but don’t want something big. That’s dumb.

I like how you blamed the Dept. of Ed., but they were simply responding to public pressure at the time. Several decades ago, the world was screaming for highly educated workers, and there were plenty of union employees being laid off. The 80s were a hard time for skilled labor. Societal demand, at the time, was for

But the corporate tax rate has steadily decreased for the past 50 years. This is a graph from Forbes showing that. It’s starting to creep back up slightly, but it’s still historically low. And what have we seen since it began its decline? Lower wages for workers, higher incomes at the top. So, just based on this, your

I have an e36 M3 sedan. It’s one of my favorite cars I’ve ever owned. Definitely not the fastest car in the group, but it just drives so well. Definitely needs a lot of work to get it up to par, but I’d say that’s true for any 20-year-old car.
