I disagree and I guess we will all find out next week but I think he goes through with it every time (except the time Nora walked in on him) because he is trying to get to the other world but he can't get back. It dawned on me this episode when he was describing how alive he felt in that world.
re Liv Tyler/Meg - we saw her in the first scene of the first episode. She got bombed to the Stone Age with Evie, remember? That character is dead and gone.

Yes, I am surprised the reviewer missed this. Agree with you that the character was clearly something given that he happened to be in the other world both times that Kevin was there.
But episodic Hitman turned out to be a really great idea. Can't disagree with the rest of your post, though.
