@halcon: Yes I do. If you want to login at a friend's computer you can either load LastPass Pocket (free) or LastPass IE Anywhere (paid) on your USB drive and use that.

@MrBrownSound: Lastpass is actually free. It even offers multi-factor authentication for free (disabling non-authorized devices from logging into your Lastpass account).

Nice integration with Firefox & Gmail. If you are however working with another mail setup, check out my long-time favorite [www.Deferredsender.com] or http://www.lettermelater.com. Both work with any e-mail application.

Get a refill for 50 cents. I have this from a former barista; they don't advertise this.

This review kinda misses the point of what Diaspora is all about. It's not about the features right now, but more about the architecture. And it's not about it being a Facebook competitor, but about having an alternative that works without the profit motive.

@dmorrison42: Touché. Some of the more "advanced" electronic typewriters used to cost up to $5000. However a simple mechanical model was to be had for ~$110 in the 70s [j.mp] ($327 in today's $).

GTalk is actually using the XMPP protocol not a proprietary one; it's the open standard that Jabber originated and that thousands of other websites have adopted (e.g. gmx.com, web.de, LiveJournal, Nimbuzz).

2-factor authentication is actually free. Just enable it on the security tab in account settings. I have stored the grid as an encrypted PDF file on my iPhone (I use the excellent Goodreader app), so I have it always handy if I want to authorize a new device.

@peculiar77: Totally agree, your word in some of my "multi-tasking" friends' ears though...

@matbrady: Thanks but no thanks Mr. Chrome; Firefox already has an even better multi-search address bar than Chrome with the Omnibar Add-on: [addons.mozilla.org]

@shazaam42: I strongly recommend this article where the author analysed the traffic between his Lastpass Add-on and the Lastpass server: [blog.tinisles.com]

@Beldar: Even if you used both your Gmail address in Lastpass and your Gmail password as your master password (which you shouldn't), this information is only used to create a key for your local vault. That key is then sent via SSL to the Lastpass server, and they in turn encrypt this key again before storing your data

@yagameister: You don't. All you give them to store is encrypted data for which they do not have the key. They in turn encrypt this data once more server side to make themselves less attractive to brute force attacks (according to their FAQ [is.gd]

ipad + bluetooth keyboard = the most expensive typewriter (without print capability) in history :-P

@bobby.tables: my search stopped working after I moved to a new hard drive. I had the same problem and re-indexing didn't do anything. Finally I found a registry hack to properly reset the search and index from scratch again. Found this on a Microsoft site (of all places): [is.gd] Scroll down to Doc Blase's entry

If you're jailbroken there's the CallMe app (free) that can create a direct-dial icon for each contact. Very simple, no setup, plus you can create icons to send SMS as well.

Comodo Firewall deemed this as "suspicious". It creates autorun records, files in Windows system directory and services. See here: [j.mp]

Skype: "Now you (are) able to talk them through the problem."

@list007: Wow, went to the site and it does look too good to be true... Maybe it's time to change my host...
