Mine was a great deal at the time. I let them control the water heater and the A/C. They only ever shut things down during the daytime. I don’t ever remember them shutting down either during a weekend. I had a smartish programmable thermostat that was programmable and had delays setup for restart after a power loss.

Yes please! Cadillac should build a new US highway cruiser! I don’t need chrome 20 something inch wheels and low profile tires or firm sport seats or sport suspension with think anti-roll bars.

Almost 20 years ago, my electric company in S. Florida offered a plan to get a $20/mo credit for installing a remote switch to shut off A/C, heater or water heater. There were reasonable limitations but I signed up for 2 of the 3. There were times that the electric company did shut off my equipment, but I think it was

NP by a slim margin. These cost more where I live and have a bit of a following. I could probably fly to San Fran, road trip this one back, detail it up nice, return the stock head unit to its rightful place, and flip this for a break even situation.

Yep, ex-wife had a VW, bought a vacuum oil sucker and did that every time.

I get that time is money, but by the time I drive to the oil place and wait and they change the oil, I could have done it myself. Amazon delivers oil and filters. I drop the used oil off at whatever car parts store I drive by whenever I'm done. I agree that looking under your car is a good thing.

In the ‘80s my family had an Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser Wagon, obviously brown, diesel, automatic unfortunately. My mother went to the only fuel station in our town that had diesel aside from the truck stops out by the highway. Worst car ever. 3 engines, 9 or 10 transmissions (anyone remember the Aamco lifetime

Jezebel cross post?

Call it a Taurus and fill it with squircles, and I'd buy one.

I’ve only heard one of these IRL, and you described it better than I could have ever done. Take your star and put it in the clothes dryer with your hammers, Dobermans, wombats, bees and what have you.

They would need to change the name to Cars and Carnage.

I so much appreciate the proximity keys these days. I hate it when a get a “real key”rental. I rent about 15 time a year and have been getting them about 1 in 4 or so. Shortly after I got my first proximity keyed car, I upgraded my home key storage box to a metal box. I wasn't really worried about this attack vector,

Up until recently, many of my family members would visit and attend to my ageing grandmother. We all knew the door combo to her Grand Marquis. The car had a electronic parking and toll tag and we would just lock the keys in the car and leave it in the airport parking lot for the next family member to use. It was like

3rd gear, shout-out to my hometown Nissan dealer where I almost bought my first new car, except the salesman wanted to sell me a teal one because, "it will get less tickets than the red one at that other dealer down the road."

50 K is too much to pay,

I’d like to retro-mod (modern-mod) one of these with modern technology and take it on a drive about the US and Canada.

Came for PT Cruiser. Left satisfied.

Cummins repower swap?

The cars I’ve driven in the past, activate the low beams automatically when you are in high beam and it notices oncoming traffic.

When I was in the Navy, I occasionally drove a GMC K series truck. It was a crew cab long bed. Turns were not bad compared to other Navy equipment if experienced.
