Useful but not really “secret”. It’s been in the same place in Settings since iOS 5 and Lifehacker has articles talking about it as far back as 2012 and as recently as July 2017.
Unfortunately, Smart Invert does not seem to work in Safari, which I expected it to. Strangely, it does work in the Photos app, and when I took a screenshot of the effect in Safari, it looked normal there. Perhaps it’s still a work in progress.
ETA: It doesn’t work on the latest update to Instagram on my 7Plus.
