The idea that Trump supporters were motivated by economics is false. First, Trump supporters are wealthier on average than Americans in general. Second, voters who ranked the economy as their number one concern mostly voted for Clinton (by a narrow margin, but still).

Exactly. I was a kid too but old enough to know what happened and to understand the jokes - but not the political and cultural implications. The fact that she didn’t get plastic surgery and go hide in a foreign country is amazing.

I was a kid at the time so my knowledge and perspective on the situation was limited, but looking back and knowing what it’s like to be that young, we were really terrible to her.
