This is a little bit bigger than the 6-inch display you’ll find on a standard Switch console...

Damn I miss Petty. He was my absolute favorite

She was easily the best part of the film. Teyonah Parris and Brie Larson seemed to be sleeping through their parts.

I have younger children (both 9), and one left his Switch, with about a dozen physical games including all of those that I play, somewhere between our summer vacation and home. The airports, airline, and Lyft couldn’t find it. So I heartily agree with getting kids the more inexpensive model.

I wish they had made the Switch lite version with an OLED screen, and charged $50 more for that.

My only issue with all this is, apple was only one who you would give your credit card info to.  Now with everyone having their own market, might lead to people information getting comprised.  Or more easily hackable.  I trust apple more in keeping your info safe than some developers.

well the video game industry is fucked now. Epic is gonna go after the big three console manufacturers soon.

If Nintendo announced a new DLC pack of tracks for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe I’d happily buy it on day one. There isn’t anything wrong with MK8D as far as I’m concerned and no real need for Mario Kart 9 (or whatever they’d end up calling it). The gameplay and graphics are still great to me.

Nintendo deserves some roasting for this.

The only two weird things about this announcement for me are:

My gut feeling is that they planned a 4K Pro and planned to make OLED standard on Pro and classic models, but due to chip shortages, Pro isn’t coming until 2022. If they announced Pro for June 2022, nobody buys any Switches until then, whereas this gets some people excited for the holidays, and they can roll out more

You really need a TV of 65/75 or larger to actually see a significant difference.

The problem is that the Switch’s now-ancient architecture is running up against AAA games. Many of Nintendo’s own big games have struggled to keep steady on the console, and recent AAA 3rd party games have need to go to Cloud streaming in order to bring it over.

I think it’s realistic to say that Nintendo abandoned generational thinking WITH the Wii, not after it. Of course the Wii was going to launch at a similar time. The Gamecube tanked pretty hard and it was their last “core” console but to act like the Wii was part of generational thinking is silly given the fact it was

My kids still play the Wii U fairly regularly. I love the console but Nintendo made so many mistakes with it. I’m with you on the original vision of Breath of the Wild- I would love to see it. (although, I do love the version we got)

In a way, the Wii U wound up being probably the most expensive proof of concept in video game history. It is not at all hard to see how Nintendo wanted to merge the idea of home and handheld games into one ecosystem, but the tech to make it in an affordable way just wasn’t quite there yet.

This... actually looks kind of ballin’?

Marketed as being vertical, it’d be the PS5 Short.

I’ll be waiting for the Slim.

tbh I have a suspicion this collection wasn’t planned before the pandemic hit. There were rumours of HD remasters of these games at the beginning of the year, but those could have easily been scrapped for something more cost effective, and the limited marketing ending at the end of the financial year is suspect.
