In answer to your question: Black people knew.
I said this in another thread, but I use a burner account not because I am trolling but because I am AFRAID of those kinds of people being able to hack into the Gawker (or other blog) system and retrieve my personal information if I happen to say something that pisses them off one day. (I've said stuff on here I…
I wish I could insert the screenshot I just took of the one five-star review these sticks have. It reads (I'm paraphrasing): "My daughter Willow loves these! She's already put them on her Christmas wish list!"
I just keep imagining the person sitting at his desk, Googling and copy-pasting "rape gifs" to a comments section...
Mark,
is anyone else disturbed by the homoerotic sado-masochism in these books? Clearly, Diana G. is into spanking and that is fine, but why is there this obsessive interest in men beating and raping Jamie? Once...okay... But over and over again?? I quit after book 3 because I couldn't take the sexual violence anymore.
I am baffled as to why Outlander is popular. I don't see it as romantic at all. Much too rapey. It seemed every few pages somebody was threatening to rape her. And then, well I don't want to spoil the end but the sexual violence really ruined the book for me.
But see, that's the lie. Women weren't given anything. The erosion of the power of the unions and increased global competition made paying men wages with which they could support entire families less and less common. For the most part, women weren't "invited" into the labor market. We were shoved. First into the…
We're not going to get anywhere until there is funded maternity AND paternity leave that everyone takes. If it's accepted that both genders will take it, it becomes less of stigma. And that's not even coming just from a stance of job equality - most women could desperately use the help of their partner at home after…
I don't know about other Countries, but in Canada maternity leave comes out of the Employment Insurance Fund (Federal government) so the employer is not paying women on maternity leave.
The fairest thing would be paternity leave for fathers as well. Neutralize it! Also, some women are more career-focused then their partners so it doesn't always make sense for the mother to take the maximum amount of time.
Oh, fuck off with this. If I were getting repeatedly harassed at my workplace, my employer would take measures to ensure the harassers were removed and prevented from returning. I'm not a delicate, wilting flower that needs to be protected, but I'm also not some ragdoll that you get to toss around whenever you feel…
What on earth are you talking about? Offering to help is now a 'white savior complex?'
To me, it seems this is really indicative of the way in which it's so much harder to exist as a woman on the Internet — women have to deal with so much shit, and so much of the stuff done to ~make the 'net free for everyone~ doesn't take that fact into account at all. There was an op-ed in the Guardian about that this…
There's a point to Kinja? Because it's failing miserably. Comments around here were 200x better a couple years ago. Old articles popping up make it all too obvious.
The problem I have with all of this is that everyone assumes that making a decent human is a "recipe" and if you do the right things and add the right ingredients, you are guaranteed a fantastic result. Of course everyone thinks they have the best recipe...or secret ingredient...but the bottom line is the same: the…
But they're NOT flushable—even if they say they are. They will mess up your plumbing—your toilet plumbing, I mean!
Easy solution: don't wear thongs.
Of COURSE the collective narrative of trolls is wrong. Yeah, the traditional troll model is some 14-25 year old male with cheeto dust fingers, Mountain Dew, lol neckbeard, etc etc, but I've been using the internet since my preteens and I used to be a vile little shit, too, before I grew up and realized what a…
