AV Club articles are more stream of consciousness than traditional prose.

What in the absolute fuck kind of sentence is this? This is shameful. You should be ashamed.

It really is a shame that Return of the Joker was out of bounds, because that final confrontation is so great.

I’m shocked that Batman Beyond hasn’t been on DC’s liist of “lets make this into a movie”...It feels like such a no brainer. A Batman story but Bruce isn’t the main character....They could’ve even done it with Keaton instead of throwing him into Flashpoint...

Yup, the whole “Curse them if they do. Curse them if they don’t”.

I understand people’s reticence to this, especially if you belong to the cultures this particular fantasy-inspired campaign exists in, but if your example boils down to them wearing some costumes in a silly promo piece that explorers used to wear, then that’s... not a lot.

That pretty much somes up 99% of the “outrage” reported by the news thjese days.  Its a handful of people on Twitter bitching.

PERFECT assessment. 10/10

That would have been the complaint instead.

No one is ‘so mad’, it’s just like 20 people on Twitter. I’ve seen just as many people be happy to be represented and feel seen by the campaign.

So....a solution? Sounds like you don’t want them to explore these cultural identifiers and the explorer-genre tropes. Should half the cast be fired and people you find “approved” be playing this game?

This may seem like an overly cynical and bad-faith interpretation of what Critical Role is doing with this new campaign.”

It can’t. But Japanese companies can put a claim on a Youtube video as long as that video gets shown in Japan. Certain Youtube creators can ‘geoblock’ a video — meaning it can’t be played in Japan. When that’s done, then a Japanese company cannot exert a copyright claim on the video. However, many many content creators

Honestly, thats pretty much on the money. Porn artists have gotten big jobs in the anime and game industry for decades (Akamatsu Ken and RAITA being examples). Doujin groups and pixiv are where you find the next generation of big art talent. Having up and coming h-artists do guest work feels like lifeblood for gacha

This isn’t surprising if you know their recent history. while everyone likes to say that Japan is a sophisticated country with smart decisions for many things (their healthcare is pretty damn impressive) a lot of Japan’s systems are completely broken and so far very little has been done to fix them (teenage suicide is

Heh, if you know anything at all about Japanese culture, you would never utter the words “get with the times” in relation to any company there. Japanese companies in general do things their own way, and don’t give a crap about what anyone else thinks about it.

What do you expect from a corporate culture that’s so

When it comes to “Why target such a small creator?” All I can think is that they’re using this as a stepping stone. They’re going to go for slow-pitch softball targets so that they can easily win. Winning cases sets up legal precedent to then target bigger entities.

Its in the article. Its a SLAAP lawsuit in all but name. Theyre suing him in a Japanese court, where the very idea of “fair use” doesnt exist, to try to get his channel taken down and financially ruin him out of .... petty spite? not really sure why. Especially to such a teeny tiny channel and not something like the

The problem is that by marketing it as seemingly it’s own thing, it being just a smaller part of the larger Mandalorian story isn’t conveyed to the audience in any sort of good way. Call it “The Mandalorian: The Book of Boba Fett” or “The Book of Boba Fett: The Mandalorian,” something in the actual title of the show
