I can't stand Juno. It's trying way too hard to be cool and failing at every point of the script.

How is it exhausting? Watch however much you want and then stop. Come back whenever you feel like it. There's *literally* no pressure other than that you create for yourself. If you don't want to watch it, say that. But don't blame it on fictional pressure.

I know this is a necropost, but this bears saying - AV Club, like many other communities (despite the self-fostered idea that AV Club is a unique and precious thing), is an echo chamber. One person says something, and rather than buck the trend (of one), a second person agrees. Then a third. It's much easier to

Holy shit. I never even thought of it, but Boyega as Charlie would be perfect.

Oh yeah, Mr. Nancy was definitely older in the books. So was Czernobog. But this works. I don't care about getting things 100% accurate, I care about them finding the soul of the characters. The Zorya sisters are perfect, Czernobog is perfect, that's all I care about. I only have a few wonders/worries -

Stormare as Czernobog is fucking perfect for a TV adaptation. I have my own personal headcanon for what they look like in the novel - for some reason, even with the description, Shadow is embedded in my head as a tow-headed Nordic type, and Czernobog will always be the old, old man. But Ricky's doing a great job -

For some reason I never considered that they'd have Anderson portray Media as the Lucy Ricardo in the books. Just never came to me. But she did, and it's fucking amazing. Better than I could have ever hoped.

As much as I disagreed with people after the last couple of seasons (I thought they were just fine, never had a problem with Clara, etc.), I really enjoyed the change of pace. I really enjoy Capaldi's angry Doctor, but his capacity for humor is so great that I can't help but love seeing that side of his Doctor as

Go look at which reviews actually mention "Danny Rand should be Asian," and then look at the amount of overall criticism. It's far higher on those.

I'm completely the opposite. I love the guy who plays Foggy, but Daredevil, at his best (in my opinion), is Daredevil at his brutal depths.

Well, considering the level of bias against the show before one minute was ever watched, I'd say that it's more of a balanced situation than it ever has before. Normally, there are more reasoned opinions out there in the critical reviews, but with Iron Fist there was a lot of bandwagoning to show hate.

Literally any of them. That's the point.

If you look at *who* is saying those things, they're all the ones who were accusing the show of racism for casting a character as its own ethnicity, claiming cultural appropriation where there is none, and showing a general ignorance of the character or story. They've been doing this for almost a year, now. I've

That's actually what I hope they continue with DD. That's what I've enjoyed about his story, the sad, downward trajectory. Even when he has victories, they all inevitably fall away.

I'm not sure why, but I don't see this in those fights. I've really enjoyed it so far, it's one of the few examples of Marvel's weird "grounding" of their universe that I've liked. One part of either Episode 1 or 2 (that I won't mention) felt like just a really bad effect, but that's it. If you've seen it, I'm

Genuine question here - do you enjoy the fight scenes that Rand and Wing have had? I have, I enjoy the difference in Rand's style (more fluidity over brutality), and Wing's is more of the blunt/quick/brutal that we're used to, but it's not the same as DD's.

I notice that the one thing you didn't praise right here was the fight scenes. Weird. You just went on about how great they were. Tell me, exactly how are they different from literally every other sentai show of the last twenty years?

You really shouldn't. Watch an episode of Kamen Rider. It's a sentai/tokusatsu show, and the fight scenes are what you would have seen in Power Rangers 15 years ago.

Exactly. The cool moments come from things other than the fight scenes. Kamen Rider's fight scenes, like EVERY OTHER sentai or tokusatsu show, are the most generic of their kind. Erik here is full of shit.

Are you joking? I've watched Kamen Rider. It might be fun, but it's neither new nor exciting. The excitement comes from things outside of those fight scenes.
