Harry Reid, our nation’s highest-ranking Mormon (for now...) just publicly gave her props, too.

Wow. That took an incredible amount of courage. Not only did she give up a choir position that she worked very hard for, but I am sure that she will face backlash from her church. Although all religions rely on people fitting in and going along, the Mormon church does this more than most (a lot of mormons in my…
I am a white middle income male. I was raised LDS (Completely inactive now) and still live in the heart of Mormon land. I applaud this woman on so many levels. For not only sticking to her morals but taking it so far to stick it to the church. This lady has more balls then most men.
Wow good for her!!
That letter was beautiful. Good for her and I hope more follow her example.
Just drawing attention to the commenter “StatenIsland” down below in this thread. He shouldn’t be ungreyed, but someone did it to him and he just keeps dismissing any replies to him. Hopefully he gets banned.
Kudos to Jan. We have to fight back because the last time the GOP controlled this much of the government the depression happened the following year and Hitler and Mussolini rose to power.
Oh dear. A POTUS is not supposed to “reflect the values of...” any one religion or religious doctrine. A POTUS is supposed to reflect the values of AMERICANS... absent any specific religious bent. Thacker renders the whole argument moot at the point of that statement. Object to this asshole because he’s never run a…
I am a very liberal, non-religious Californian, and I’m admiring the thoughts and words of a very religious Morman from Utah. There is hope for unity after all!
I’m a recovering, sometimes bitter, Mormon but absolutely love MoTab. You will never hear a more serenely beautiful sound than the choir singing at the Salt Lake conference center, and the traditional Mormon hymns are the most moving (the CDs are good but you have to feel that vibration live to really get the full…
That is quite impressive. Being in the Choir is a huge deal for Mormons and the fact that she is willing to let that go because of her conscience is simply impressive.
Tyranny is now on our doorstep; it has been sneaking its way into our lives through stealth. Now it will burst into our homes through storm.
because this man isn’t normal. Nothing about this is normal in any way
On the one hand, as she said at the end, this is a moral issue. Any person with decent character and a pinch of integrity would not celebrate Trump’s inauguration. So, really, she just did the right thing. As she should. As they ALL should.
Not Mormons on the internet! Ha. I think she is showing the principle of agency quite well, which is a fundamental belief of the LDS Church. Bravo to her!
She’s amazing and lots of Mormons are cheering her on!
“It is a demonstration of our support for freedom, civility and the peaceful transition of power.”
Bless this woman for having the courage and conviction to make this choice. She could have just not volunteered to go but instead she saw what just associating with a choir that is performing for this man would mean. Even if performing is not political there is still a sense that those who perform tacitly support the…
Good for her. A true person of faith.
Just want to throw her some super-extra respect for recognizing that she could not perform her job role in this case and actually, you know, resigning that job. As someone likely to encounter a difficult professional moral landscape within the next 4-8 years I have been giving this a good deal of though and appreciate…
