@Mysta: CHDK loads like a firmware upgrade, but it does not permanently update the camera. You put it on your flash card, and can either choose to boot it or you can ignore it. CHDK brings a lot of features to Canon point-and-shoots; my favorites are a real battery indicator and zebra mode.

I used to have MicroSoft OneCare, and gave up on it because it slowed my system down so much. As I understand it, the Security Tools are based on the OneCare product. I wonder how they finally managed to speed it up, and why it took them so long to do so?

Upgrading from XP is a real pain. What's the point, XP works just fine.

Sadly, there is at least one mailing list that you can easily get on, but cannot get off of without setting up an account. I refuse to go through the effort, it's easier to just mark them as SPAM.

Hmmm... the link says the program can be used to back up the registry. I discovered the hard way that the standard XP backup program stores all of its settings in the registry, which means, when your registry is hosed, you cannot use the XP backup program to restore it.

@joegibes: Hey, this thing is not going to win any beauty contests, but as GM designs go, it's not bad. First of all, it's not flat-out ugly. True, headlights are a tad large, and the C-pillar is too thick, and, for that matter, the entire rear window design is a bit awkward, but compared to most recent GM designs…
