I feel like Singles is the more mature sibling of Reality Bites with the added bonus of dreamy, dorky Campbell Scott.

Not that uncommon. My ex girlfriend got kicked out of her house at 14, and her parents let her live with a 30 year old pedophile cocaine addict. The emotional issues she gained from all this led to our breakup years later. Gross.

When I was a freshman in high school a girl I shared a class with and had grown to like (new girl, had a "college boyfriend", didn't give two shits the privileged environment she was thrown in) committed double suicide with her older boyfriend. He was not a college student, as she led us to believe. Rather, he was 45…

Clearly this girl is mentally ill. The self-harm combined with a middle aged "boyfriend" (or abuser*, if what they said about their sex life was true.) But our national obsession with innocent teen virgin vs. nasty crazy slut is our reflection of our fucked up views on women, not a diagnosis of an actual person.

This girl is a victim of rape. Plain and simple.

Why did you not point out the fact that her mother claims that Jessica suffers from schizophrenia and autism? Is that a completely unsubstantiated claim and she doesn't actually suffer from any disorders?

Can someone explain to me how she can legally be tried as an adult for commuting a crime that took place during an act that she can't legally consent to yet? I am all sorts of confused...but mostly enraged.
