There's a difference between what plays out in your mind and what plays out when the scenario is in front of you. It wasn't entirely clear so I don't think we can know for sure, but the way she said something about it not looking like a jelly bean made me think she would have gone with the flies if she had a choice.

Not really since the places they interviewed at don't have first hand knowledge of how good or bad they were at their jobs. Also, Caputo felt guilty about how things went down so I am sure he gave them good references.

The fact that the previous guards have had to take any job they can get (crossing guard, waiter) is evidence that unemployment is high so one would guess there would be a decent pool of veterans to choose from .

It just irritates me that she continues to think she's so important that she is going to be the one to get things done. Agreed. She seemed pretty neutral overall but just because she looked slightly uncomfortable when the other guard talked about how Humphrey took Maritza into the guard house and how he's a sadist, doesn't excuse her doing nothing about it.

I wouldn't call it unselfish since she seems to be doing it more to get rid of her own guilt than to help Blanca. It's just too much of a re-tread of old Piper to me.
