It’s just as you say. The movie sucked in ways many video games do because the movie was made the same (wrong) way those games are: end to beginning and bullet-point driven.

By the time this scene happened I had already checked out and was joyfully pulling on the threads of awfulness and thought the same thing. If one ship can lightspeed destroy and entire fleet why are they just shooting lightspeed ships at each other?

The plotting itself in Act 2 was pointless. What Rian Johnson was trying to do (I’m not sure I totally agree with his decisions) was take the usual harebrained Star Wars convoluted Hail Mary hero plan and make it fail. And fail spectacularly.

Ackbar should have lived and been the one to stay behind and kamikaze the ship, saying something like “I’ve got you all trapped now”. OT legend and you kill him off-screen for a pointless misdirection twist? Laura Dern is a fine actress and all, but that whole mutiny subplot was ridiculous.

I am pretty sure I hated this movie. There were so many things in there that wasn’t Star Wars and didn’t feel like Star Wars. The Matrix Style slow motion ducking under the lightsaber, Luke brushing his shoulders off, the reach out and Luke ticking Rey with a leaf. The your mom joke. Leia’s Mary Poppins/Superman float…

Lol how angsty can you get? Maybe their lawyers are slightly miffed but I doubt devs are sitting there fuming about it lol. It’s a monetary issue, not a personal one.

I don’t get the hype behind this movie - The book was bad - Like real bad. I’ll admit I liked about the first 1/4th of it, there felt like there was some real development going on and interesting plots being built up trying to find the first key. . .But after that point?. . .It all fell to shit.
