Your examples aren't really disproving my case here. You're highlighting the performances in running gags. Again, MADtv usually consisted of lazy/bad writing that heavily relied on the actors to carry it. Look at episodes throughout the series and you can tell the obvious sharp deterioration of quality.

I find it funny that some people seem to remember MADtv as "good". MADtv at it's very best was a depressing display of talented comedians/actors trying to make shit tier writing into somthing watchable. As disappointing as this was, I wasn't surprised in the least.
