So much of it is marketing. The Conservatives have convinced their base (our pathetically uneducated majority) that “social policies” are “socialism” and “socialism” is “Communism” and we all know “Communism” is bad. QED.

Agreements to agree are unenforceable throughout our country. Which is why teams do not put their money where their (bought and paid for) reporters’ mouths are and sue on them.
Yeah the “I will shove this ball down your throat” incident has stuck with me since. I love Serena. I truly believe she is the greatest professional athlete in history. But she can be a dick and, when she so chooses, go WAY overboard without a thought of who and how it hurts (including her own image and legacy).
you’re not
I truly don’t understand the need to cheat. You’re running at 70+ years old! That’s amazing enough! Why cheat your way to a world record ? Is there money involved? Is it psychosis?
As someone who has run 10 marathons, I am obligated to salute you on beating me to it. And also mentioning my ultramarathons.
Yeah. The end of this slippery slope would be this dumbass becoming the anti-helmet/seatbelt candidate. Is that what you want, Marianne?
Republicans thrive on hypocrisy, that’s how. Remember, they use the corollary to outlaw abortion: I’m Christian and I pay taxes; the gov’t can’t use my tax money for something un-Christian; therefore the gov’t cannot support “abortion clinics” or contraception.
Every basketball player on every play risks an Achilles injury. A “calf” injury (assuming we’re talking a muscle strain/sprain) does not make an Achilles injury more likely. So, unless the original “calf” injury was really an “Achilles” injury, there’s really nothing to see here.
I and a number of my running friends have followed here incredible story. Today is a shitty day.
savage
This is the point. She specifically ignores the distinction between athlete and spectator, and goes straight for the nationalism.
You make a solid point. But there is also an important distinction between cheering an opponent’s injury/poor play and celebrating one’s own excellent play. I always hate it when a team cheers a missed field goal. You didn’t do shit, they missed, fuck off! But I have no problem with the pigpile in the endzone after…
How much of this is a face-saving measure after Canadians cheered KD’s leg explosion?
It’s his volatility that drives me nuts. He’ll make these kinds of “championship” plays all night, then get the dumbest T in the history of the sport. And one day he’s pissing on his teammates, and the next day he’s their Lord and Savior. The guy’s a fucking conundrum. And I can’t look away!
I don’t know, man. Assume the organization is acting in good faith: wanting to win this championship and knowing it needs KD out there to do it. In that case, it needs KD to both stay healthy and play well. Wouldn’t it want as much information as possible on the likelihood of both those things? And wouldn’t KD?
i snotted
It’s usually so much closer to the ASB though! It takes real effort to start 13-2 and then be mathematically eliminated from contention by Memorial Day...
And they always smell like diesel fuel for some reason.
Yeah. Apparently the rules don’t allow for an error charge there. But the SS committed two: (1) not knowing the situation, and (2) throwing to a nonexistent recipient.
