The moment I realized Tina's story was turning into Freaky Friday was pure magic. This show is amazing.
The line about Ashi accepting what Jack says at face value made me think, so here's some rambling. Her trust in him after the initial barrier was overcome does make sense…meeting the first person who was ever kind to her or who shared her repressed values (e.g. appreciating ladybugs) must have felt incredible. I'm not…
I think the wolf/tiger analogy works (for me) because it adds a sense of real danger to Jack's corresponding scene. I'm used to thinking of Jack as nearly invincible. The daughters' training was harsh and they're logically going to be a serious problem for him, but watching the tigers mess up the wolf makes that…
I feel that Olaf *is* genuinely scary. Not because he's clever, etc., but because he's willing to do absolutely anything to get what and he wants and because his ineptitude highlight how messed-up the world must be to allow him any success. It always felt to me like the point was that evil people can succeed because…
Mr. Frowney reminds me of The Cat Lady, which is great. It was almost shocking to hear such dejected voice acting on this show. Hngh. I'm excited for all the deep stuff we're getting into.
1. Maybe a reference to "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?"
Ahhh. Dang. That was delightful. Gave me some heavy nostalgia for FFTA, but that's a compliment. Soos' non-dad was wrenching. I love how non-Wendy started out by telling Dipper he was right, which should have obviously been a trick but was subtle enough to slip by at first. The whole ending was crazy sweet. And I love…
When my fiance asked me if I wanted to watch this movie, he described it as a horror movie. Horror being my favorite genre, I was thrilled.
I had no expectations for what this episode was going to be like. I honestly could not picture it. But man. I read somewhere that a good ending should be unpredictable but inevitable and this nailed it. Everything felt so *right*.
I assumed the song was Rose singing to Greg and have not yet shaken that impression. All the other gems are at least a little like her. I guess it could be for one of them anyway, though, if she didn't think they were like her (I just don't see it being Steven because he never met her so she can't think he's like…
This was the first episode in a long time that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. Lots of funny moments, the spider lady looked a lot like a teacher I had, which was hysterical, and the lesson ("women are not prizes," I assume) is a good one and is something Dipper needed to deal with…but I feel like the confrontation scene…
