Some of us think there is more to life than Citizens United. It’s very important, yes. But not at the expense of EVERYTHING ELSE.

Yes, it sucks that there is so much money in politics, but there’s very little indication that it is making much of a difference
President Obama is a centrist in a lot of his policies. Is this a politically calculated nomination? Absolutely. Designed to make the Senate GOP look worse than they already look. But he is also consistent with many of the president’s positions.
I’m Canadian so I am speaking from a skewed perspective, but Citizens United is unabashedly fascist from any angle I can think of. It’s a affront to democracy. One, by definition, simply cannot treat an affront to democracy itself as a respectable precedent rather than a travesty and call oneself a democrat. This is…
He’s only center-left because the entire nation continues to shift economically rightward, without anyone speaking up.
Are you kidding? Hillary should say the same thing - it basically further holds the GOP’s feet to the fire by taking away the chance for them to approve Garland in a lame duck session if they don’t like who won the presidential election.
Citizens United is the litmus test for a lot of us, and this guy fails; he would not overturn it. Whatever you want to label him, he’s on the side of the oligarchy on that decision. I think Sanders’ position is the only one an actual progressive can fairly take.
I don’t think so. I think he’s saying that Obama absolutely has that right, but if the Senate doesn’t do its job and confirm Obama’s nominee, then he, as the newly elected president, wants to nominate his own justice. I would be incredibly shocked if Hillary doesn’t do the same thing if she gets elected.
you do realize there’s a BIG difference between stonewalling the nominee (which is what the republicans are doing) and winning the general election, then asking the sitting president to withdraw his nomination that’s being stonewalled by the republicans, right?
1. I love how so many Republicans are like “Trump will destroy us!” but will support him anyway if he is the nominee.
Then I imagine most conservative members of the Senate will take “consent” the way they do in other scenarios. Where silence mean “yes” and “no” means “probably.”
Except they refuse to advise or consent thus leaving us with 8 justices for what could be well over a year with some very important cases coming up. The Senate not doing their job at all is not the same as the Senate valiantly keeping that crazy dictator Barrack Hussein Obama in check for us voters. We actually…
I hope his daughters grow up to be well adjusted lesbians who work for Planned Parenthood.
I feel, though, that this is a chess move by Obama. Start with the candidate who might be the most palatable to the GOP, and basically say "Look, it's only going to go further left from here. Your party itself may be on the verge of fracturing, and future nominees are going to be darker skinned/female etc. You can…
I feel like Obama must kind of feel the way I feel when I try to get my kids to eat anything. “Okay guys, here. I know you like this. It’s bland, inoffensive, yet substantive and you have definitely eaten something like this before. Now chew and swallow. GODDAMNIT WHY ARE YOU SAYING NO!?!?! YOU’RE JUST TRYING TO BE…
Yup! It’s spelled bukkake. Does Jezebel not employ copy editors?
Tyson Kidd should be revised to (neck, career ending...nearly mobility ending)
To be fair, I don’t know that it was clear to Robinson that Neville was hurt. I don’t fault Jericho for getting pissed, but I don’t think we need to pile on the ref.
