You misunderstand. We get nothing either way at worst. Starting from an already compromised position, if they play ball, leads to slower progress than if you start from an uncompromised position and compromise from there. Clinton will always start from a pre-compromised position.
I agree that pragmatists compromising with obstructionists results in nothing. But, spoiler alert, IDEALISTS compromising with obstructionists gets to exactly the same place.
