Old here. I thought “the black cauldron” was a bit scary for disney. Also that movie “the Black Hole”? I remember being scared shitless as a kid. It’s probably super cheesey now tho.

You are no doubt too young to know this, but back in the early 80s Disney had a few PG-rated movies and some of them were fairly scary. (Full disclosure - I, too, am a giant baby who is easily scared.) The best of these movies was “Watcher in the Woods” (which featured Betty Davis!). Genuinely scary, but not too…
There is rape in some of his books, but he never glorifies it or blames the victim, and he never portrays it as a man just being unable to help himself. And there are far more of his books without it.
In fairness, he is a horror writer, so it makes sense he’d write about terrible things.
He’s written about a gazillion books. If they were ALL about rape, you would have had a point there. But they’re not. And since he writes about people in the world, it would be strange if none of his characters were ever raped since sadly, that’s something that many women have experienced
Not a rape.
Why mention Black Lives Matter on a replacement marker that has nothing to do with race and everything about a region’s cultural legacy. It’s as if white people know their excuses are nonsense but are too cowardly to admit what they know to be their racist inclinations.
i love Joanne too! its a great album. just not where pop/youth culture is at these days or it would have been bigger. but it was what she was feeling and she knocked it out of the park.
Mine too!
Highlight for me was when she is talking about the men running the industry, thier power, the beautiful women they surround themselves with just because they can, and she says something like, “And 8 times out of 10, when I walk into a room, that’s what they expect from me. The same thing they expect from those girls*,…
My husband became a big fan of hers after hearing that interview as well.
Wrong. The release was originally scheduled for September 28th, 2018, not next week, and has been moved up to May 18th, 2018.
I’m super excited to watch this. I’ve been listening to her wonderful openness for a couple of years now - ever since her first appearance on Howard Stern. Her first interview with him was probably the best interview I’ve ever heard anyone give. It’s hands down the best of the thousands that he’s ever conducted, as…
THEY ARE RACIST.
I will totally miss him. He went out in a good way given the circumstances (they detailed his effect on the show, drilling it home before he died) but I felt like he’d have more of an impact on the show in the end. Here’s hoping the books have more planned for him, given that he’s orchestrated so much and still has…
The one surprise for me last night was when the Mtn pulled out his sword behind Jaime. I actually yelled out “NO!” I was relieved he stayed breathing, but damn - that would have been a twist/shock worthy of discussing.
Nah. I was hoping for him having a big influence in final events. I’ll miss him! Great mind manipulator and survivor... until..whell.. he died.
I actually commented out loud last night while watching that everyone’s facial expressions were amazing in this episode. I also loved Cersei’s face when she saw the wight that the Hound brought out, and Jaime’s face when he realized that Cersei might actually have him killed for real.
These ladies make their own rules.
So much for he who passed the sentence should swing the sword, SMDH.
