It’s not a “Blizzard apologist” to say that people who make something have the right to decide how that thing is used or not used. That outweighs any concerns or desires about playing some specific old games.

It wasn’t non-profit, they accepted money to run the servers, which is income gleaned from something they did not hold any legal rights to, regardless of the cost of operating servers.

Blizzard owns the code, the story, the character, the models, their appearance, all of it. It’s arguable at least on a philosophical level that they even own some of the gameplay concepts. It’s their property, and it’s not like this is a new copyright law. It’s been this way for the better part of a century.
