I took this Friday off from work to get my financial paperwork together- I’ve got some tax stuff to deal with, moving old accounts, and a full business day to deal with them will actually let me get my life together before 2019.

I’m working on moving up my wake-up time gradually, to switch to working out in the morning. Through the end of the year, I’ll bike and do yoga at home, while I get used to waking up early enough to do the full gym thing before work.

I just checked my Parent PLUS balance yesterday, and saw that ~$200 of the $940 I pay a month is going to principle- the rest is interest.

I’ve made cheese fries topped with chole masala, mint and tamarind chutneys, and maybe a blob of raita. Felt so wrong making it, but came out so good. My trick is to broil the cheese to the fries so they make a sturdy base layer.

Makes me miss the toast. Last year’s would have been funnier, but now we’re back on track with actual sexy men.

These are the same people supporting Floreen over Elrich.

I just re-read Mercedes Lackey’s “Vows and Honors” series, and am now imaging Bonnie playing Tarma. It’s nice to imagine characters who are described as having strong, specific features actually being portrayed by actors who don’t all look like variations on the same face.

When I was working in a small, local petstore a few years ago, kangaroo meat was the next trendy type of food for allergy-prone dogs. “Whitefish” was also the next alternative for dogs who couldn’t handle salmon. I wonder what proteins they’re on to by now.

Carrots and cucumbers (English) are go-tos for me, cucumbers in a light soy dressing is a great refreshing summer side. The carrots make a slinky texture, which I just find fun. If I’m eating the carrots raw for a salad, I still prefer to make thin ribbons with a peeler.

TVP was big when I first became vegetarian as a kid in the late 90s/early aughts when vegetarianism was very “cruchy granola.” I see it in the big bulk bins at Whole Foods, but haven’t tried it after being scarred by some bad prep back in the day, so I’ll have to give these a try.

So I just won a pair of tickets to see this movie, so clearly the universe is demanding everyone see it.

I feel bad for how often I resort to ordering Cava after the gym, but at least I’m getting a seasoned dinner for <$10, with a rewards app. I feel a bit better about my choices now.

The goat yoga trend is so weird to me, with everyone wanting to be climbed on by cute goats. I grew up with 2 intact male goats my dad got as a “deal” (aka nobody wanted these damn goats.) They were so gross, mean, smelly, and would piss in their own mouths while maintaining eye contact. If they got loose and were on

I did “dry July.” The 4th is really the only big drinking day, and I was fine with seltzers. It helped me to do summer activities other than “which patio has a good happy hour?”

I have a sodastream at home so I feel silly buying seltzer, but I make an exception when this is on sale. I stocked up on the 4th with the lime and grapefruit, and my supply was pretty much decimated by everyone at the bbq drinking these instead of the beer.

I keep saying the Weezer cover sounds like a low-energy, second place finisher in a high school battle of the bands so I appreciate your correct take. They took the joy out of the original.

I felt the same way, but I saw that Anthony Ramos from Hamilton was in one of the previews, so I’m giving in to this movie being a thing. I just hope it doesn’t sweep awards.

Did you see her new book announcement?

I think so many people say “I would kill someone if they did this to my kid/family, and they don’t realize that the kids can internalize that and try to keep it from happening.
