Plastic is everywhere, and plastic straw-shaming (forgive me for uttering such a phrase) assigns too much blame on individual actors (fuck OFF, capitalism!) and not enough on the governments and businesses that created and profit off systems that created this much waste in the first place.”

I got a student credit card with a relatively low limit my senior year of HS. I still have it, and never bothered to get the limit raised. Using it for basics (books, groceries, etc.) and paying it off every month was painless, and the rewards weren’t great, but still nice to get the occasional cash-back. I got a

There’s at least 1 grown man in my neighborhood who has one of these- he rides on the street in front of cars and doesn’t get over, and I’ll admit I laughed when he ate it in front of me (I was far back enough to brake safely, because I’m not trying to run over anyone.)

I only use it to fry plantains, or to make Thai-style dishes.

What a bummer, but good luck for the future, Madeleine!

Have you tried oregano pesto? I made mine with walnuts recently because I’m too cheap for pine nuts, and it was AMAZING over roasted vegetables and halloumi.

The older seasons of Design on a Dime were great! (Maybe the newer stuff is too, but I haven’t seen them.)

  • What condiment is totally worth making yourself? Any flavored mayo- chipotle, garlic, etc.

It’s funny, my dad gave me more shit about being fat when I was a kid/teen than he does to me as an adult.

I’ve switched bringing my smoothies/coffee from home from mason jars to old kombucha bottles. They’re harder to clean (I had to invest in a good bottle brush) but they fit nicely in the sides of my backpack for easy access.

I love using the near-death salad greens into a pesto, especially an oregano walnut pesto I made recently. It really stretches the amount of final product you’re getting with only a bit of the more flavorful herbs (I won’t say more expensive, since mine is a garden plant gone rampant.)

A lot of their marinara sauces don’t have added sugar, which I appreciate.

The whole eastern shore (especially the weird Virginia part at the bottom) should probably just be Delaware. It wasn’t until I booked a trip to a B&B down in Cape Charles that I realized Virginia had that strip.

They put one of these on 270 here in MD, I’m surprised Drew can’t see it from his house.

I made a pesto and broccoli pasta salad for my lunch prep this week, so it’s fresh on my mind. I get the protein pasta when it’s on sale, and with some cheese added, it’s relatively well rounded.

I’m lucky that’s there a bit of a grocery cluster up the main road from us (but unfortunately nothing really walking close like in my old neighborhood) so if I plan, all of the groceries are up and back. I also get irrationally annoyed to pay more for something if I’ve seen it cheaper somewhere else. (Significantly

Probably too much! When I’m feeling lazy/rushed, I’ll do all of my shopping at Whole Foods, instead of my “eggs and produce are cheapest at Safeway, cucumbers and bulk grains are cheapest at WF, condiments and staples at Trader Joes, etc.”

I was just about to say this. They’re also great for diy pedicures or manicures.

I used to demo solar cookers at farmer’s markets, and one of my favorite things to do was to chuck in a few ears of corn to steam.
