I don’t think they’re #1, but pickled beet eggs should be somewhere on the list. One of my top foods to grab when I’m back in PA.

I think my last post got kinja’d, so sorry if this is a dupe:
My cousin’s husband was still drunk during their ceremony. I believe the priest was told it was “nerves” making him puke his guts out before he walked into the church, but I assume a Catholic priest performing a Polish/Irish wedding is probably aware of what’s going on.
This is good advice. So much of the stuff I post on Poshmark thinking it’s too good for Goodwill hasn’t sold, but things I thought weren’t worth listing sell in a day.
I used to get my clothes in a very piecemeal fashion: pop into TJ Maxx/Marshalls when I needed clothes for a specific event, or check out a site linked in Kinja deals and buy some random things on clearance. My shopping was rarely intentional, and I wound up with an inconsistent closet I don’t particularly like, and…
I think this a valuable piece: http://www.nextavenue.org/nobody-wants-parents-stuff/
Weirdly I think I found out about them through Jezebel. I bought a bunch of bras back before they were in the US, and it was a revelation to just have bras fit, without digging or spilling out the sides.
Are we pretending Curvy Kate doesn’t exist? And often has awesome sales that make their pieces very affordable?
This and the Secret of Kells are both delightful and so beautiful.
I feel like everyone is sleeping on Selkies as a look. Tartan prints, wool sweaters, great jackets and boots, slicked back hair, and the cool neutral palette of the stormy north Atlantic. Plus, an excuse to wear more cloaks/capes.
I wound up trying Virgin Mobile’s year plan for $1. The new phone was a $400ish charge up front, but it should still save me $200 over the next year. The best part is being able to take my phone bill and put it in savings for the next year.
Oh man the cross stitch spelling snafus are always such a bummer if they make it onto the project.
Oh yeah, I wasn’t saying it was good reason. I was just trying to figure out why he might be so adamant if she’s already expressed to him her reasons for wanting to do things a new way.
I’ve been thinking about this more, and I’m wondering if he wants his last name because he thinks the kids will look more like her, so wants to make their connection to him clearer.
I got my father’s last name even though my parents weren’t married and my mom was thinking she’d give me her maiden name pretty much until the last minute. But she finally decided that since she still had her ex-husband’s last name, she wanted to share that name with my older siblings, while I’d at least share a name…
The book Threads by Nell Gavin is probably my favorite exploration of this, in a fictional way. It’s the reincarnation cycles of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn.
This would have been good last month when Virgin was offering that “buy an iphone and get a year of service for $1" plan. I didn’t have the cash ready to buy a new phone, but if something like that comes up again, I’ll jump on it. “New phone to replace the cracked on both sides one” is a new sub-savings account.
This reminded me of a book I read back in college, Stuffed and Starved by Raj Patel. This line in particular always stood out to me:
I like Boomerang for this. Especially when I was a contractor, I was doing my work at weird hours. I’d just set the email to go out the next morning, so I wouldn’t forget and have it in drafts forever (a bad habit of mine.)
These are my friends! So glad their awesome family is bringing people joy and getting so much attention. (I’m going to go pinch those baby cheeks tonight, which I can’t wait for.)
