I visit gawker, lifehacker, et al (really!) if I cannot get out of the office (hence the sporadic comments).
I work in the industry and they can't make polish fast enough. The demographics are not as narrow as one would think, and this helps fuel the demand.
Practice! You'll find some polishes spread better than others. As far as the water, if you have good tap water, you don't need to use bottled but make sure the water is room temperature or a smidge warmer. Be quick with anchoring the edges so dragging the toothpick through the colors to create your design will be…
It takes practice! While cooking / eating / anything, I still catch myself thinking about something other than what I am doing. The first step is to recognize that you are "out of the moment" and STOP! to bring yourself back "into the moment." We are not perfect machines that we can just close all those other programs…
This. I now practice thoughtful cooking and eating (as much as possible), and it is amazing how little I eat now. By simply slowing down and paying attention, my body has time to tell me that I'm comfortably "full." Food looks and tastes so much better. I read this as "and then I'm mad" probably because I get overwhelmed at all the tasks that I find (and still needs to get done) :/
Also, block out time for yourself to work on projects. Everyone can see my calendar's free vs booked time so I use this to deflect back to back to back meetings.
I vote for going native plants for your area. Native flowers, shrubbery, trees, and even grass. They use a LOT less water, support native wildlife, and is a lot easier to maintain.
The point of a day off is to do what YOU want to do. It is okay to be selfish and take care of yourself. Most of us don't do it often enough.
I am not much of a beer person. There are no "good" tasting beers according to my palate, some just taste worse than others. However, that does not stop me from drinking them if that is all there is (far be it for me to offend/insult the host).
