There are a couple construction areas in town with signage that specifically tells people to zipper merge, and these have been working so far. I think changing out the signage for all construction-related lane restrictions would be a big help with encouraging people to zipper merge.

Here in Omaha, there’s currently an effort by a state lawmaker to get people to start zipper merging when there is a lane closed for construction, which is the correct way to do it. People here get into the through lane way too early, and back traffic up for tens of blocks. Then they get angry with the people who use

A few years ago we were at a friend’s house playing board games, and their cat climbed up onto my husband’s shoulder while we were sitting around the table. Said cat then proceeded to rip the nastiest fart that we have ever heard and/or smelled! No more shoulder cats for my husband!

Yep, I’ve noticed this, too. I usually wear my glasses on the weekends to give my eyes a break, and those are the worst nights for making dinner! It doesn’t help that I put onions in everything I cook...

I know ‘game night’ isn’t an original idea, but there are a number of ‘legacy’-type games out there now that continue the storyline of the game from session to session. The game permanently changes based on the sessions, so it is like a new game each time. Off the top of my head: Pandemic Legacy, Betrayal Legacy

The scallions sold in the grocery store are a separate variety from regular onions, but the ones you can get at the farmer’s market in spring are usually regular onions that have been thinned out of the field. It’s interesting to watch the bulbs on the ‘green onions’ get progressively larger week by week at the

How about guacamole? I know it’s not really traditional for this time of year, but it is delicious!

That sounds delicious! For the tofu, do you use regular firm or silken firm? I would think silken tofu’s creamy texture would lend itself better to being blended.

With a two-person household, we run ours every other day, too. We cook a lot of meals on the stove or in the oven, so we go through a fair amount of prep dishes - dishwasher-safe cutting boards, little bowls for mise-en-place, serving utensils, etc. It really doesn’t take that much to fill up a dishwasher, and you

You could make it in individual ramekins and keep them in the freezer!

My mom makes a similar frozen pumpkin dessert, but she puts a layer of vanilla ice cream below the pumpkin-whipped cream filling. It is delicious!

It was only a modest proposal.

Maybe decant it into a smaller container using a funnel? I’ve never tried. I would do it outside, though.

Yeah, my husband and I have ‘replaced’ kids with cats. Not literally, we’re just not having kids. :)

Babies are expensive. You might want to replace...

So the police just let the food bank take the van back with all of the potential stolen goods in it? Doesn’t that open the police department up to a whole bunch of liability if the van gets stolen again, or gets broken into?

I really don’t like ham (I don’t like sweet and savory flavors together, and the flavor of ham itself just doesn’t sit well with me), but turkey is kind of a ‘meh’ holiday food, too. I would be all for changing the tradition to brisket, or maybe some roast lamb.

I am constantly afraid that I’m having a heart attack whenever I have any sort of pain in my chest. Since women’s symptoms can be different than men’s, I’m not really sure what a heart attack would actually feel like for me. Luckily I’ve never had anything that rises to the level of pain that would probably happen

As one of the seemingly few women who runs warm, I definitely agree. (My sister-in-law has the same problem.) I am much more comfortable eating while a little too cold than a little too warm. Warm rooms tend to kill the appetite, too.
