Yes, and there’s actually a pretty good case to be made that he was involved. Apparently Charles Jr. had significant health issues - physical and possibly cognitive deficits as well - and Charles Sr. famously believed in the idea of eugenics and that he and his children should reflect the idea of a perfect “master

He was devastatingly good looking. I really think that was a lot of it. He looked like what many Americans thought a hero should look like. And I expect a lot of people found him sexy.

Maybe he forgot the “thoughts” part?

“...our incredible healthcare system in this country.”

Wow - I didn’t know he’d been aware and even tried to use her attachment issues as an excuse. That’s devastating. What an awful, awful person.

I generally agree that anger should be directed at the men who victimize women and not at the wives who stay with them. But in this case, Hillary has demonized his accusers and minimized his actions. Even today, when we have a much better understanding of how power dynamics can be abused in the way Bill abused them,

Yup. I understand why he lied at the time (“I did not have sexual relations with that woman...”). He was covering his ass. I think most people in that situation would have done the same, even knowing they were throwing others under the bus.

She was so damn young. AND she was his subordinate. He 100% took advantage of her. And it destroyed her life.

Especially since so many of his movies are supposed to impart wisdom about people’s inner lives (including women’s inner lives) and relationships. Thanks, but no thanks: I don’t want to be in this guy’s head and I don’t need to learn anything he would want to teach me.

I parent a child whom we adopted from foster care after a history of neglect. Kids like this, more often than not, have what are called “attachment issues” - their ability to bond with caregivers was damaged, and that can cause lifelong inability to form healthy attachments.

You’ve got to be impressed with the optimism of someone who would think - even in a drug-fueled haze - that they could flush a pair of pants down one of those tiny airplane toilets!

Are they...stimulating themselves while they watch? Like, hands down the pants? Or are they just watching the porn? Because I don’t really get why you’d spend hours just watching porn. In fact it seems like it’d be uncomfortable, getting all turned on and not doing anything about it.

I was once driving my former boss somewhere and she took off her shoes and socks and clipped her toenails. IN MY CAR. Clippings flying everywhere, she didn’t even try to corral them. What is wrong with people!!??!

I went through that after I had my daughter! It was a traumatic birth and I needed a lot of stitches - I was terrified to put anything up there for a while (in my case...even the husband!) After about a year I started to feel better about it, and within a few more months I felt back to normal.

I think she could get under Trump’s skin in a debate to such an extent that he might be drawn into actually arguing with her rather than just ignoring her and preaching to the choir. And the more discombobulated she can make him, the more likely he is to show yet again - and maybe even further - how unbalanced he is.

“That cherry tree? Hell yeah, I chopped it down! It was a lib snowflake criminal tree that was stealing American jobs and...what’s that? People won’t like it if they find out I cut the tree down?...Well then, I DIDN’T chop the tree down! Ignore this sap-covered axe in my hands. FAKE NEWS!!!”

Laughing at “Bitchy Mitch.” Totally stealing that! Accurate...

I’m just amused by his handle including “real.” So many has-beens put “real” in their handles and it always makes me laugh a little. As though anyone’s going to be creating masses of fake accounts purporting to be James Woods’s. Who would care? (An unkind statement, I know. But f*** James Woods. Seriously.)

And it sounds like this person came to Ortberg asking for help, not wanting to act on their desires. So not only did Ortberg endanger children by encouraging these sleepover trips, he harmed the parishioner who had come to him needing help to do the right thing.

I’ve been a huge fan of Danny Lavery’s work since his days with The Toast. And he’s a kind, thoughtful, and entertaining Dear Prudence. I hate that he and his wife have to go through all this.
