Yup. I understand why he lied at the time (“I did not have sexual relations with that woman...”). He was covering his ass. I think most people in that situation would have done the same, even knowing they were throwing others under the bus.

I parent a child whom we adopted from foster care after a history of neglect. Kids like this, more often than not, have what are called “attachment issues” - their ability to bond with caregivers was damaged, and that can cause lifelong inability to form healthy attachments.

I went through that after I had my daughter! It was a traumatic birth and I needed a lot of stitches - I was terrified to put anything up there for a while (in my case...even the husband!) After about a year I started to feel better about it, and within a few more months I felt back to normal.
