She went on TV and propagated the birther conspiracy. Not just smiling and nodding alongside Donald but on her own. Complicit.

If anything, I would think she’d be glad if he were removed from office. By all accounts and appearances, she hates being First Lady and would much rather return to her NYC “ladies who lunch” life. And heaven knows she doesn’t seem that fond of him; I can’t imagine she particularly cares how he feels about it. Do U?
It is kind of hard to imagine what was “a bridge too far” after she’d already authorized toddlers being ripped out of their parents’ arms.
All I can think of when I see those big scissors is that jump scare in “Exorcist 3" with the nurse. (shiver)
What really gets me about this (well, besides “childlike” and “gullible,” which made me literally gasp) is that this training presents an ironclad no-win situation. Apparently if you’re a woman and you’re not “traditionally” feminine, men won’t respect you because they’ll think you’re a ballbreaker. But we all know…
My friend and colleague arranged with the company how she would handle her maternity leave with her first child. They agreed on her being off-duty four weeks and then working from home part-time four weeks. But within a week of the birth the boss was calling her every day to ask questions someone else at the office…
I don’t know; I think the situation is more nuanced than that. There’s a lot of pressure on royals to toe the line so as not to embarrass the family or harm the monarchy, and it would be awfully hard not to feel an obligation to your family and your country. I also have the impression Harry and Meghan both feel…
And the thing is, Americans in general don’t demonize extreme wealth. Otherwise, more people would be up in arms about the rich enriching themselves by screwing over the lower and middle classes. It’s the same reason Trump’s acolytes praised him when it came out that he’d ducked his taxes: instead of thinking “Why did…
And yet people pay tons of money for it. The cult of celebrity, man...
And the thing is, especially with the beard to hide his weak chin, he’s a good-looking guy. But his attractiveness is completely torpedoed because his stupidity and cravenness are written all over his face. (Seriously, he’s not even good at faking intelligence. Even in a still photo he could be the dictionary picture…
Trump’s so obsessed with ratings - it’s as if he thinks his life is a TV show and the only point is to bring in “viewers” and get more attention for himself. Anyone with a sliver of empathy would have known this ambush would be incredibly painful to the family, whether or not they said yes. But Trump has no empathy,…
Ha! Great minds think alike: When I saw this story I immediately thought of the old “This Is Your Life” show.
I sometimes wonder if guys like this truly don’t think they raped anyone: if they think they are so irresistible, and so entitled to sex, that any woman should want to have sex with them. So if the woman says no, she’s playing some sort of sexy “just take me now” game with them, or she’s saying no for appearances’…
But Trump has nothing to do with the running of his clubs/golf courses now that he’s president! His son is running the company, and they never ever EVER talk about the company because That Would Be Wrong. /s
Just imagine the Trump Org having to send out letters on that letterhead! “Trump Tower, 725 President Barack H. Obama Ave., New York, NY.” Beautiful.
Oh thanks for making me think of Rudy Giuliani’s balls. Ick.
The reported numbers are specifically of people who reported abuse by someone above them in the chain of command. They’re all in that situation, regardless of gender.
Ooh, it was the recent one I watched (and loved except for the ending). I didn’t know there was an earlier and better version! I’ll look for it.
It’s also possible these numbers have a lot to do with who reports sexual assault. I would guess women would be more likely to keep silent for fear of being victim-blamed and/or fear of being demoted because they challenged someone in a position of power. Men, it seems to me, would be more likely to report because…
Lots of comments here about favorite pandemic books and movies. If you like them, I recommend the British TV series “Survivors.” It does a great job of portraying the initial wave of deaths and exploring how the few survivors move forward.
