The Model X manual has said it has rain sensing wipers for over a year yet that functionality still does. Otherwise exist and there is no intermittent mode. This actually becomes a bit of a safety issue because in light rain you have to constantly trigger the wipers manually.

Free hanging should hang to the front. However, if the mount is halfway inset, to the back is better. Being inset, it feeds the next sheet nicely and makes it easier to tear off with one hand. If fully inset, the roll needs hang to the front again otherwise it’s really difficult.
