I know that's probably not what you meant. I was just trying to point out that NPR does a lot of pop culture stuff, and pop culture is not limited to video games. And it looks like this video was shot to promote NPR's new gaming tumblr...which is probably run by professionals.

I agree with Mudbud, watch Totoro first, but as a follow up, I'd recommend Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro. It's pre-Ghibli, but a lot of Miyzaki's favorite themes are present. Plus, it's a bit more accesible
