This is probably for character based languages, where you have no idea how to type it in. For example, if you see this: 解除. I don't have much knowledge of kanji, but Google was 100% accurate when I handwrote those characters.

I agree with Mudbud, watch Totoro first, but as a follow up, I'd recommend Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro. It's pre-Ghibli, but a lot of Miyzaki's favorite themes are present. Plus, it's a bit more accesible
