You local to Cincy!? I just picked up a red mk1 TT roadster a few months ago. Taken it to Fuel a few Saturdays, but since they closed I haven’t really seen the cars and coffee crowd showing up any longer - shame. Maybe people will take to the lot again once it warms up a bit even if coffee is closed.

Yeah, this. Saw a nice one at cars and coffee in Cincy a year or so ago - especially if you mod haldex to lock it in, appears to be perfect. Obviously, this one is well used and abused, as it should be. Mk1 TTs have really bottomed out currently as well, so go for it.

Reminds me of the “fanfare horn” on my old W123 - actually a super useful option that I used routinely!

Rotors is the only acceptable rust, and grinding it back unto the dust from whence it came is sweet, cathartic bliss

Good find and NP - it’s easy as hell to source parts for fairly recent classics, and not that expensive. Only thing that sucks about it is the damned rust and those irrevocably forced on nuts and fasteners you will destroy. Anything over 20 years old should only be allowed to originate from west of the Rockies.

I used to not fear rust, but now it is probably a bigger deal than maintenance records and mileage combined when looking for a new toy. Something eaten by rust is just dead - something AS EATEN as this postal jeep literally appears to have already been digested and evacuated out the end of a rust-eating-gnome. Buy a

So this guy is outta the grays and I’m not? totally makes sense, right move. SAVE ME!

Claim Tech here - please explain where these noodles came from - were they expected and/or intended and were they prepared within the policy period?

Can we find something fun to ogle - perhaps this 2007 6MT S4 avant local to me for $14,900?? SOMEBODY LIKE THIS AND REMOVE ME FROM MY GRAY GRAVE.

I bought one non-running in OH with ZERO rust and 203K miles on the clock. Put a few more on and it runs like a top - literally cannot believe this thing doesn’t have rust, but it truly doesn’t.....crazy. Hell, the clear coat is still flawless - how does this happen?!

My first (cosmetically) rusty used car was also my last. Never, ever dealing with rust again, be it cosmetic or structural. Put some time into CL’ing a new project and put this one down like a beloved pet: shredder.

Best response in thread.

Picked up a beautiful red mk1 FWD 180hp 5spd TT roadster this year and could only be happier if it had baseball stitched seats. Also, despite being only the FWD 180hp flavor (which btw is lighter, cheaper to maintain, and more hairdresserier), it has a MANUAL opening rag top - one BIG less thing to break with age!

Totally reminds me of the human centipede jjaaagggggssss episode of top gear.

As a matter of fact, get the SL-C Superlite and then drop a little coin on your Miata and turn it into a Bauer catfish!! https://bauerltd.com

I’d without question say SLC Superlite. Now you’ll definitely want to source one with AC installed, but they are stunning and will rip the pants (or skirt) off just about anything else you roll up on out there. People also have no idea what they are but they want one - hell, you can make up a different name and model

Not that I’ll ever leave the grays, but having just purchased my first TT this past month, I am a total beanbag to accordion convert. It’s just insanely more tidy, symmetrical, and just awesome. Beat the bag, get a rubber.

Because I am and will always be stuck in the grays, none of you get to see this, but the wagons you all want exist and are CHEAP. Like half the damned price of this old person car. Get a six speed manual turbo diesel VW Jetta Sportwagen. We got two of them and mine is brown. It is AMAZING and I will be buried in mine

Not that the cooks here will EVER let me out of the greys, but this is why my wife and I both got 2013 manual turbo diesel VW wagons. They are incredible and we will literally put a million miles on them before we get rid of them. The best and most enjoyable baby haulers we could ask for.

Are you kidding me - this vehicle was on a competitor blog (ya know, one about the drive(s) we all enjoy) DAYS ago - little light on content after a long weekend??
