For example: Guild Wars 2. It had a horrible launch, many people couldnt even get in to one of the maps for the first few days, they were all full. And yet guild Wars 2 was running a Beta weekend every month for nearly a year till their launch.

Remember looking at videos promoting it as far back as Guild Wars 2's launch.

Beta testing is still a limited testing though. Without giving people a full on Open Beta, there will still be plenty of unfound/unreported issues.

I, for one, didnt read it like that. It didn’t sound so much like “Hey we’re taking money from this to make other games!” It sounds more like they ran out of cash, and are having to work on projects that will manage to bring in some quick cash to stave off bankruptcy.
