Toyota can easily absorb the costs of a niche sports car with development shared with BMW. Subaru making one would be far more foolish, unless Toyota helped pay for it again.

The Ascent is the sort of “exciting new product” that we should expect from Subaru. I mean, who else has achieved 19 cupholders?

To hell with the mid-engined sports car, I'd be happy with the WRX engine in the Crosstrek and Legacy/Outback.

Mid-engine Subaru hybrid sports car? Factory Five has it covered.

please jog on with this passive aggressive bullshit mate. Engineers do not literally choose the race results. We should get rid of you before anyone else

I’m not sure we’d have 10 cars on the grid if they were only allowed to run one car. It’s the scale that makes it possible for some teams, running 2 cars is actually much more cost effective than just running one (hence the argument for 3rd cars), gets you more points, more exposure, etc and the car is already

If it’s a team sport first then why are the podiums individual instead of by team? Team with the most in race points first, second second, etc..?

The Multi 21 debacle took place when team orders were already legal. FIA allowed team orders again following the move made by Ferrari at Germany 2010.

I don’t want to say explicitly that fans are wrong, but if wheel to wheel racing and overtakes are the only things that a fan care about F1 is not the series they should be watching. There other better motorsports for that.

Oh and by the way... in the early days of the sport when communications and telemetry were almost non-existent there was the rule that if lead driver retired the team could pull a team mate into the pits and the car returned to the track with the lead driver in it.

Formula 1 has always been a team sport first, and a driver’s championship second.  That’s just what it is.

Not sure what race you were watching. It was a very fun race to watch. And it’s a team sport, sometimes team orders come into play. It makes for good drama. And it also, inevitably, makes for an article such as this anytime team orders are used at the front.

Counterpoint: all those said fans should understand how motorsport works.

Solid counterpoint. Compelling and rich.

It’d be perfect for a Pinewood Derby.

Looking at the shape of this, it’s obvious he got it backwards. This is a perfect wing shape for a plane. It would be all lift. The air would be moving faster over the body than underneath, causing low pressure. Good idea, just bad execution.

I’ll be the judge of that!

If the bed had fold-down sides it would be even more perfecter.

I see your small truck and raise you a small van that inexplicably came to a vintage truck meet recently.
