Long before I heard the original, I fell in love with David Gray’s cover of Say Hello. It’s still one of my all time favorites. It borrows heavily from Van Morrison, if that gives an indication of tone/sound. Worth a listen, if you’d like.

I watch on repeat the You Tube video where Stevie is singing an early version of Wild Heart (to music that Lindsay got to keep and thus not not her album) while getting her make-up done for a Rolling Stone photo shoot. If you haven’t seen it, walk, don’t run to do so. It. Is. The. Best.

Colonial Lanes?! Tell me the roller rink next door isn’t gone. I spent every Saturday there from age 8-12 or so.

Fair enough. And don’t get me started on Rory the character. Damn you, entitlement! (Though her mother is not without blame on that one).

If it makes you feel better, I used to give my dog a long walk in the morning, and then go to work for 6-10 hours. I tried to do day care once a week or so, but for the most part he was home alone. I got a great greeting when I got home, but all signs pointed to him sleeping all day while I was gone. Over a year

Which is worse, that they all did that automatically for a photo, or if they decided together to do it for the photo? I can’t decide.

I figure Rory must be pretty cool, too, but is too shy to allow her personality to come through during PR shit (in fact, unwillingness to be a part of that might be the coolest thing about her). Being BFFs with Amber in real life for years is enough of an endorsement for me.

I came to that conclusion during Skeleton Twins. He’s charming as hell.

Fun fact from an insomniac: I am 98% sure she also does the infomercial voiceovers for Cindy Crawford’s skincare line, Meaningful Beauty.

Same here. I tried to tell everyone I know to watch it - it’s just as much about race relations in L.A. as it is about Simpson, and it utterly fascinating. And important.

It was a staple of my 7th grade life. And yes, it is terrible. Also, in no way would I categorize it as a “rom-com.” (Otherwise, I found this to be a delightful post).

I’m in the middle of The Hate U Give, the terribly well-reviewed YA book about Black Lives Matter. Really good, even if you think you don’t like YA. Her ability to use what is sometimes an unfamiliar vernacular and make it clear in context reminds me of Junot Diaz (a very high compliment from me).

RE: On Immunity: Overall, I enjoyed it, though I wish I could be around when you get to the jarring and seemingly out-of-nowhere pro-communism paragraph that appears so randomly. I was looking around an empty room like, “wha?”
