Let’s talk about the lead character in the Dark Tower. Roland Deschain was described by the author, Stephen King, as resembling Clint Eastwood. So, Caucasian, or, as some say, white. In the upcoming film, Idris Elba, who is Afro-american, or some say, black, is playing Roland Deschain. Opinions?

you’re a waste.

I think casting a white actress instead of the original Asian is as OK as casting a black actor in the role of the Gunslinger.

well said.

what is this? a racist comment?

what? a cat is less than a dog?????? f. you!

yes but it would be anobvious choice

he was described in the books as reminiscent of young Clint Eastwood. Now, really, is Clint Eastwood a black person? Really, nothing against it. but it is exactly as weird as casting white actors as Japanese characters. You can obviously spot the VISUAL difference. Nothing more, nothing less. It IS weird.

so true. so this could be calling blackwashing, right?

do you think other races aren’t racist? like, there are no black men who go to, say, Thailand and act like racists towards the women there?

I’m going to troll it a bit. Not liking the trailer. “This summer”...the dumbass dubstep sound effect...the kitschy blue ghost lady, 1000x seen...retarded. Yes it’s only a trailer. But...it’s not funny. And it’s quite stereotypical - the black lady’s “southern-big-momma” stereotype borders insult even for me, and I’m

be aware, saying anything negative about this cast is getting you the “racist” label here... rolling eyes...why don’t they cast an actress to play Roland while we’re at it? Still, I love Elba and it’s not a big deal after all.
