Adaptation for TV or film often requires trimming shit just to fit it into run time. Combining Yorick’s mom with the president lets them keep those aspects of the presidential succession story line, while also keeping Jennifer Brown centered.

100%. But that is an entirely different issue than whether this film failed, and whether the streaming release was responsible.
