Just because you keep repeating it doesn’t make it true. Plenty of comedians arrive at jokes through set ups that provide context beyond “Why did the chicken cross the road?” David Cross, Bill Hicks, Bill Cosby (ugh), The documentary “The Aristocrats” is a great example.
