I put any extra cash into a reserve account specifically for future discretionary spending. PNC bank has a great feature for earmarking money goals in reserve. We had FiOS before we moved and It was not just fast, but consistent and stable. Now with Time Warner, If I have the PS4 going and the wife is online (with 30mb internet) I sometimes have lag and trouble loading matches. If we are watching netflix and she starts browsing iTunes, then it can degrade the video quality.

I actually bought a non-smart lightstrip from one of these which has been amazing. Cannot control it with my phone or alexa, but the remote is easy enough and it really looks great on top of the cabinets.
