Problem is I do not have any of the prerequisite equipment and very little experience with it. I can see a simple mistake shredding my setup as the blinds try to generate a vortex by screwing up the gear ratio.

I want... so bad... But can you use any blinds, or will we need to go with a certain type. We are outfitting our house with wood (faux) blinds, which are quite heavy. Not sure how well they would work due to the weight. Also, do they need to be rod style or string?
