Sure it is. Malice is a mental state. To prove defamation of a public figure they have to prove that Oliver intended to do harm to coal boy, rather than simply inform and/or entertain the audience. It's practically impossible to do that and I bet the lawyers know it.

What a joke. Coal boy's lawyers know that they have to prove actual malice to win and they have no such proof. It is nothing more than an attempt by a wealthy man to try to intimidate others.

Regardless of the reason, respect is earned, not demanded.

Where were they when Obama was being viciously attacked? I guess they only demand respect for white Presidents.
