If you are going to play that game, thats fine… but then stick to new cars for comparison’s sake, or throw in the “used” disclaimer. You can get a hell of a 996TT or c6z06 for 40k… I understand this quite well.
How much do you think cutting off 2 doors etc would cost? Building it on the standard focus platform on the normal focus factory line is what allows this car to make “business sense” for Ford.
I'd be willing to bet 99.99973% of people that buy this car won't be able to use half of the power it comes with from the factory without driving it into a tree. If you need a stronger drivetrain to satiate your ego, more power to you, but that's not something engineers should worry themselves with.
We now live in a world where a sub 5 second 0-60 time, and 350hp/350lb-ft are not enough.
Before anyone else dares: I was being sarcastic. Very, very sarcastic.
TLDR version: “Oh the RS costs money? Well that’s a deal breaker.” - Jalopnik
“I will totally buy one.” -Every Jalopnik Focus RS fan a month ago.
The 2016 Focus RS is almost at a Ford dealership near you, so it’s time to learn how to push this 350hp all-wheel…
I honestly don’t think we’ll see the type of depreciation that DeMuro is talking about among many Hellcat examples, but only time will tell. The real takeaway from this article is the sentence about stirring butter with a rope. That expression is mine now, and I don’t intend to give credit where it’s due. Thank you,…
Whipped this together quickly, just for you!
Id like to add to this discussion. I’m a diesel engine performance engineer.
Did gm intentionally design that switch to kill people?nope.
Gm didn’t design the switch to intentionally fail. VW did.
You might call this An Car.
I’m surprised to have to point this out on jalopnik of all places, but no amount of savings is worth having to put up with the misery of the base engine in virtually every vehicle.
Screw that noise, I’m the type to buy cheap used sports cars so I can mod the hell out of them.
I see the Hennessey haters are here, only took 7 minutes. Impressive.
It’s $42k for 345 hp, AWD, 3200 lb running gear, the Focus body is thrown in for free.
I wonder if this is intentional by Ford to get some buzz building up. I’m no PR rep and I don’t know what the wholes strategy behind something like this would be, but it seems like this could have been planned and used for their advantages.
