I’m fairly conservative and I agree this is dumb...govt shouldn’t be in the business of bailing out businesses or specific industries, they should only bailout employees (aka consumers). Companies should survive and die on their own merit, dictated by consumers.
There is *some* sound logic behind the app...Google, Facebook, etc already are tracking your whereabouts and could probably easily tell where you’ve been and who you have been in contact with. You could easily use this information to track the movement of the virus and preemptively warn people about exposure. But…

Based on my usage, neither app really uses or displays those codes for most sites I visit. They just prompt you to verify access, so screenshots wouldn’t matter.

It’s not dumb, it’s genius. You don’t want binge watchers using the free trial and quitting.
Other than the obvious increase in weight, why don’t they bundle several, maybe smaller, probes/robots into one trip and go for the shotgun approach. Seems like we launch one probe, wait a year to see if it fails, then start planning for the next.

Seems more dangerous, for the car, to pull out of a spot going forward since the longer rear end of the car will risk clipping the car next to you if you turn too early....but it’s obviously safer for pedestrians, unless the car pulling forward is parked between two large vehicles and they can’t see past the longer…
