There’s a ton of great CG that goes unnoticed because it’s so well done. People like to dog on it because it’s used everywhere in entertainment and varies in quality (people always assume giant green screens and super heroes), but here’s a great video showing how CG is used to great effect in the Netflix series

Yeah, I can’t believe a transnational corporation which builds this shit for a living didn’t come up with an idea that occurred to a random internet commenter who knows jack shit about manufacturing. Just wow.

All the fire trucks and ambulances in my city stop for red lights and make sure all oncoming traffic stops before proceeding through the intersection.

When I drove an ambulance in VA we were told, in no uncertain terms, that if we collided with something when proceeding through an intersection code 3 (lights and sirens) and the traffic signals were not in our favor it was our fault. No ifs ands or buts.  We did provide the municipal 911 service, but were not city

I read that she claimed she was black. Saywhatnow?

Yeah, how could a white woman possibly ever get the benefit of the doubt over a black man in family court? In America??? I don’t buy it...

She’s stunningly bad, on so many levels, but it’s certainly possible that the worst thing about Durven Dawes’ lawyers was their client.

Except Alia Shawkat. She named his behavior as unacceptable. It was the men castmates who were there, they all stood by and tried to smooth things over to keep Tambour and the readership comfortable. This is the kind of bystandership we need to stop in every aspect of our lives.

104 is a hell of a run. She was still apparently still cranking out books at 83, and that was 22 years ago. Her first book was published the same year as Asimov’s and The Lion The Witch and Wardrobe, which feel like they came from two or three literary eras ago. RIP.

I am (understandably I think) shocked she was still with us. Her books were an indelible part of growing up, particularly as I went to grade school just off the real Klickitat Street in Portland. Dear Mr. Henshaw was particularly important. Rest in Peace. I’m glad someone who gave so much of worth got to live so long.

She was the kind of actor, that to even died at the age of 80 is too young, and too soon.  She deserved at least 20 more years, and we’re worse off because of it.

Meryl Streep, Judi Dench, and Helen Mirren”

Imho the fact that it sat in the street for hours puts it squarely in finders-keepers territory.

I’m in the US and my town has 4 recently-built roundabouts (with 2 more on the way) and it’s been... not great. Mostly because people are idiots. It’s like they come to this unfamiliar circular piece of road and everything they know about how to drive just vanishes from their heads. Most people come to a complete stop

Oh I can assure you, drivers here can’t figure out roundabouts either, and there are a fair number in older towns like in DC.  For all the noise we make about cars, we’re shit drivers.

Most drivers are outrageously terrible to the point that they probably shouldn’t be allowed to drive. This is just a reality that transcends age, gender, race and class. This is why defensive driving is so important.

Oh, okay, he only stole a $120k car. Totally normal!

“If you bring me the car I'll give you $3K." - Man with $5000 deductible.

Sorry for the confusion—when I say the sandwich “isn’t coming back,” I mean the sandwich has been removed from the Chick-Fil-A menu entirely.

Culver’s is pretty damn good.  And they have a seasonal Walleye sandwich, here in central Ohio, at least, that is even better than the regular cod.
