Just one time I want to read one of these profiles and hear about what a shitty mom someone is. “She never even looked at the baby, gave him formula and let him listen to Raffi on repeat. Clearly, as a mom, she’s phoning it in.” I’m just living for this moment.

Does there really need to be that much sauce?? I am reminded of our Saturday Morning kids PSA admonition not to “drown your food”. I’m cool with a scant tablespoon.

I mean... “technically excellent” is still excellent, right? I’d take the compliment and run.

Aaaaaand reason #3254 that we are all fucked. Instead of, you know, actually thinking about legislation that helps people, spurs economic growth or social good we have this performative bullshit that really no one cares about- and meanwhile I could just take my (n0n-existent) AR-15 into a school and just murder the

I suppose at the end of the day I don’t particularly care much about billion dollar companies throwing their own feces at one another, but I got a huge laugh out of the bad lawyering on the part of HBO with regard to their failure to define super important terms in a contract- lawyers who were no doubt from some white

How the Apple Car was not #1 we’ll never know.

Thinking the same thing. If there was ever anyone who oozed empathy and understanding and making kids not feel like freaks, it is Judy Blume. Of course she stands with the trans community. To think she’d tolerate oppression or discrimination of any kind runs contra to literally everything that she’s written in her

This actually looks clever and fun. How about that. Not what I expected at all.

I’ll watch the rest eventually. But I do have to admit- I got bored. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That’s a mighty fair point- it’s definitely not called a silence button. Still- “mute button” is wrong for so many other reasons- but upon further reflection I feel super silly even still talking about it.

Exactly. I also don’t refer to that as a “mute” button/switch, as it silences the ringer. When I think of a “mute button” I think of a button that cuts off a mic so that it doesn’t pick up audio, like the one on my office landline or the iPhone phone interface, which has a virtual button with an image of a line

I get that, but there’s a difference between “I’m really excited about this quirky fun cool little film” and “man I think that we can win an Oscar”. Maybe she did feel that way? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Who knows. But I’d still be surprised.

Oh I’m sure I could do it from a complexity standpoint, as I’m not a moron in that regard. However, getting shocked by 240 or fucking it up has the potential for far more dire consequences than the jingle I feel at 120. It’s a risk tolerance thing.

Also, I’m fine messing around with my 120 v electric, but I’m not touching the 240 with a 10-foot rubber pole. A man has to know his limitations.

It is a shame. I did like him in the role. But there is definitely such a thing as having enough money to make trifling with shit that you don’t truly love a thing you don’t have to do. For me, it’s raking leaves. Ain’t doing that shit ever again. But if you want a chubby black middle aged Batman, holler at your boy.

Wonder how hard JLC would have laughed if you had told her after she read the script that she would win an Oscar for that role, or that the movie would be what it ended up being? She probably would have told you to stop smoking meth.

I have no problem with “family” or “fam”. I’m sure someone will disabuse me of this non-problem when they tell me how it’s shorthand for something super racist, but for now I’m blissfully ignorant.

Having worked in law enforcement as a prosecutor for two decades I can safely say- at least in my jurisdiction- this is not a common problem where I live- in fact, in 20+ years as I prosecutor I’ve never seen it. Ever. The way he would know the caller is legit is because he or she has all of the right contact

The fact that no one said “fuck it; I don’t care if I get fired/sanctioned/reprimanded- there’s a kid missing and I can do something to help so I am” is just mind-boggling to me- in light of the fact that if you did get fired for doing something altruistic like that your GoFundMe would runneth over. They seem ashamed,
