Can you really use a Google App Engine proxy for this? I thought that's just an http-based front end to browse simple websites.

It should be noted that although "Find My iPhone" is available for all iOS 4.2 users, you need a new device (iPhone 4, iPad, etc) to activate the account. You can then use that account on older devices (iPhone 3GS, etc).

@FrostyIce: That seems to be the case. I'm going to try it myself tonight or tomorrow.

A commenter mentioned that it might be possible to use Find My iPhone on an older device (i.e. iPhone 3GS) by creating the account on a newer device (i.e. iPhone 4) and using that.

@bolix: Has anyone confirmed this?

18.25GB increased to 19.0GB... thanks!

@Sumpington: I haven't experienced that - battery drain seems to be equivalent to other apps.

VOTE: Meebo

It's nice to see that Google's competitors are still innovating and haven't given up. This provides additional motivation for Google to continue innovating (i.e. if Google starts stagnating, and competitors continue releasing cool new features, people will start moving away from Google). Gotta love free market

@flinx1: Yeah sorry, that's what I meant. A combination of the product you use now to gradually wake you up with light, then a full-spectrum light to mimic sunlight, would be really ideal to minimize sleep inertia in the morning... at least until ChronoWake is released! (The company I started as a student :P)

@flinx1: It doesn't seem like that product you linked to outputs full-spectrum light. You may want to consider looking into that, as studies have shown that lights with the appropriate intensity and wavelength effectively suppress melatonin, which greatly helps in waking up.

@linday: You should look into full spectrum lighting. They simulate the sun's effects by mimicking its light spectrum.

Sleep inertia (the grogginess associated with waking up in the morning) can be drastically minimized by waking up from the right sleep stage, which makes it much easier to get out of bed and start your day.

@tselby: I live in the United States, born and raised. I merely mentioned the fact that this is US-only for the edification of other Lifehacker readers.

@GaryJ73167: It wasn't showing up in the app store search on the iPhone for me either... but I was able to access it by going to the iTunes link directly in Safari: [goo.gl]

As with the general Google Voice service, this app is currently US-only.

@Sesheron: Yep, I'm seeing that too.
