I like both of them, but you definitely make accurate points about each. Trey can occasionally be an interesting soloist, but he very often frustrates you if that’s what you’re looking for. But the other way to look at it is he subverts expectations in a way that rewards the patient listener.

I agree about Pink Floyd, and I actually thought of them when making that comment. “On the Run” could easily be something out of a top-shelf Tweezer jam. It’s just that their creativity was applied in the studio.

It’s a “standing on the shoulders of giants” thing. Back in Jerry’s day, “Dark Star” was probably the pinnacle of jamming creativity. But any Phish jam sounding like that would be considered laughably terrible.

The only way I agree is, now that Game of Thrones has turned so many annoying people against it, it’s impossible to go anywhere on the internet without some outrageously butthurt anti-GoT rant being thrown in my face. I could use a break from that, at least.

I see your point but...Jay Mariotti.

Yep she actually did have me going for a while. I’m glad everyone spoke up because it has since dawned on me how ridiculous of a claim she was making.

I am 100% Irish and think she looks like a white lady with a wig on. I don’t dispute that you have better “black-dar” than most white people, but I have a hard time believing that it is some magical ability innate to every black person. You’ve probably just seen more light-skinned black people in your lifetime.

I’ve heard of more of the German players than ours. Ozil, Gotze, Schweinsteiger, Gundogan, Schurrle are seemingly better than anyone we put out there.

The fourth red should be a 10-match ban AT LEAST.

8:06 looks like more of a red than any of the first three. Did the ref run out of red cards?

This is an appeal to greater ills, akin to my mom telling us to finish our dinner because of starving kids in Africa.

If you think crab fishermen are underpaid, then take it up with their boss or buy more crabs or something. When someone asks for a raise, they should not be denied because of underpaid people in other

I wouldn’t say my job is nearly as important as his. I help a company that sells hotel rooms sell more of them. It’s an honest living, but ODB adds 1 million fold more value to my life than I do to his.

I like to say “stones” myself, when it comes to a cowardly person not having them.

Are we assuming that Simmons didn’t know what he was doing and want to get fired? I can’t say I found the news very surprising.

Bill Barnwell is more or less the main reason I read Grantland. I know they must have other good contributors whose names I can’t remember, but Simmons will probably take a few with him at least. For the Grantland staff to directly report to someone at Bristol, I could easily see that ending badly.

Simmons may be something of a blowhard these days, but his writing is still great when he wants it to be, and he’s at least somewhat self-aware of his own ego. Taking ESPN’s side would be like rooting for the Joker because you’re pissed at Harvey Dent.

I can only hope that Castanets guy lived to see Star Trek.

For some reason I feel compelled to keep following Dinesh D'Souza even though he is possibly the worst person on the planet. I probably need help.
