yup seriously. as an Indian kid growing up in Maryland in the mid-80s this fucking movie was the bane of my existence and the single greatest go-to resource for assholes who wanted something to mock me for. fuck this movie.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen it, but I doubt that I would rate it much higher than KotCS because it’s got too many things that I cannot tolerate: a shrieking , useless harpy of a stereotype, a plucky little sidekick who’s just too cute and whose presence is solely to appeal to the children in the audience, and a

Completely off topic but something I was thinking about and looked up because of another comment.

I just find Willie’s screaming all too much. It’s all she does for 2/3's of the movie.

I prefer to save the racist and sexist labels for worse, but seriously, this movie is like two hours of solid cringe for Hindus, Sikhs, other South Asians, Chinese people like myself, and women. That’s about 3/4s of all humans for whom this movie is like nails on a chalkboard. Besides Short Round everybody not a

Lol, another cliche with “patriot” in his name. Are you morons even capable of independent thought?

I adore Temple. It was the first Indy movie I saw and I wore the shit out of that VHS tape. And I still love it today. But I agree — it is, objectively, racist. It will always have a place in my heart, but with a big blinking red asterisk. I can defend it as a great movie, and certainly a fun movie. But I can’t defend

Woke back then only meant being awake lol.

Fire temple second, the water stuff doesn’t even come close. Suddenly you don’t need bombs or hammers to get through walls, and you have a mounted infinite projectile weapon on your vehicles.

Anyone using President Trump’s name to commit fraud and swindle unsuspecting victims out of their money should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Temple of Doom’s portrayal of the villagers and the surrounding community isn’t always, shall we say, culturally sensitive—not entirely surprising for a movie made four decades ago, but something that might stand out for a first-time viewer in 2023.

Honestly, surprising it wasn’t ran by Trump himself.

Nope

I’ve always loved the Emo Parker angle mostly because it’s actually funny, but also because it’s Raimi poking fun at comic book fans who require these characters to be taken deadly serious.

I did Fire Temple first and really appreciated being able to break rocks all around my cave exploring. But now I’ve done basically the entire right side of the map and barely touched the left side. It did not seem like they were pushing me that hard to go to Rito: Kakariko and Hateno seemed more urgent. Oh well.

Bruh, the Sage of Fire’s ability is “novel”? He literally removes the need to use bombs and hammers to break rocks and open sealed caves. I probably use his ability more than Tulin’s.

‘”...and can be used to sling a water-based projectile with a swing of your melee weapon.”’

Yunobo’s ability helps a lot with mining, using it to break through rock walls instead of wasting all your bomb arrows or weapon durability.  So if you plan on going into caves at all, don’t sleep on the Fire Temple
