1/2 EMT has a wall thickness of 1.0668 mm. Caterham today uses 16 ga Reynolds 531 steel. 16 GA is 1.58 mm thick. 531 is a whole lot stronger than EMT too. The fact that you can bend it by hand is a pretty good indicator ;)
